According to reports, Arsenal have begun initial talks with Chelsea star Mason Mount ahead of the summer transfer window.
Mason Mount was one of Chelsea’s most important players a year ago, however a lot of things have changed at Stamford Bridge since the beginning of the season and the Blues number 19 could be set for a new adventure this summer.
The 24-year-old has made 24 appearances for Chelsea in the league this season, scoring three goals & recording two assists which is a disappointing return for a player who managed 21 goal contributions last season.
The Englishman is said to be high on Mikel Arteta’s shortlist ahead of next season with the central midfield a priority for the Gunners, with Champions League football secured at the Emirates next season.

He is one of the midfield priority signings alongside Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice who have already being discussed amongst the Arsenal hierarchy. Mount is expected to leave Chelsea in the summer with the player entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge. Mikel Arteta is reportedly a fan of the Englishman as he can cover many positions in midfield and even on the wings, with his creativity and set-pieces being his best qualities.
Mason Mount would also fit in well with the English core Mikel Arteta is building at Arsenal alongside Bukayo Saka, Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, Emile Smith Rowe and maybe even Declan Rice as well next season.
His value on TransferMarkt is currently €65m, but it’s expected Arsenal will be able to get him for a cut price with Mount’s contract up at the end of next season, if the Gunners do end up making a move for the 24-year-old.
If the deal goes through, Mount will be the second player to make the switch from West London to North London in a matter of months, with Jorginho signing for the Gunners from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
With Champions League football already secured next season, Arsenal know how much they have to spend this summer and will be keen to get their business done early so any new signings can get a full pre-season under Mikel Arteta.
Moves for Declan Rice and Mason Mount are expected to advance as soon as the 2022/23 season ends in a few weeks.
