North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur could be gearing up for a summer showdown as they both set their sights on Barcelona’s Raphinha, a player recently hailed by Xavi as “one of the best players in the world.”

However, the two Premier League clubs are not alone in their pursuit, with the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Chelsea, and West Ham also expressing interest in the Brazilian winger.

According to TBR Football, Raphinha is set to be available for a transfer this summer, with Barcelona considering potential exits to facilitate the changes desired by head coach Xavi. While the Catalan giants have been pleased with Raphinha’s contributions this season, financial constraints necessitate some departures to make room for new signings like Nico Williams and Xavi Simons.

Despite his value to Barcelona, Raphinha remains a coveted asset, particularly among English clubs eager to bring him back to the Premier League. Intermediaries have already reached out to Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United, to alert them to the 27-year-old’s potential availability.

Barcelona, who signed Raphinha from Leeds for £50 million in 2022, expect to make a profit on any potential transfer. While Raphinha is content at Barcelona, he acknowledges the possibility of seeking opportunities elsewhere if he’s not guaranteed regular playing time under Xavi’s tenure.

Xavi himself has praised Raphinha’s abilities, describing him as a dynamic player capable of exploiting spaces and creating opportunities. However, with competition for places intensifying at Barcelona, Raphinha may need to weigh his options and consider a move to a club where he can secure a prominent role in the long term.

“The real Raphinha is the one we saw in Paris. He’s intense, finds the space, creating chances,” he said. “He’s one of the best players in the world when it’s the moment to attack the space”.
