There will be a lot of movement at Arsenal in the summer, with Mikel Arteta looking to build a team that will dominate. A host of players are expected to bid farewell to the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.

Among those potentially exiting are Aaron Ramsdale, Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson, and even Thomas Partey, as the Gunners aim to revamp their squad in pursuit of dominance in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

While the futures of Cedric Soares and Mohamed Elneny appear to have been sealed, with their contracts set to expire this season, Arsenal are also gearing up for incoming deals, with one name looming large on their radar: Ajax defender Jorrel Hato.

According to reports from Football365, Arsenal have made the 18-year-old their number one summer target, with the club informed that securing his services will come at a staggering cost of ‘over €100million’ after Hato recently signed a contract extension with Ajax.

Despite fervent interest from Arsenal and other European giants and a failed attempt to sign him in January, Ajax remains resolute in retaining their prized asset, who has showcased remarkable maturity on the field, belying his tender age.

Hato’s meteoric rise saw him become a linchpin in Ajax’s defence last season, earning plaudits for his composed performances. Throughout the current campaign, he has been an ever-present figure, even donning the captain’s armband on multiple occasions.

While Arsenal’s admiration for Hato is palpable, securing his services seems increasingly improbable, with the Dutch outfit confirming his extended stay at the Johan Cruyff ArenA until 2028.

Journalist Suleyman Ozturk has underscored the financial implications, stating that Arsenal would need to part with €100m (£85.4m) to pry him away—a record-breaking fee for Ajax.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed via Caught Offside that there is no release clause in his contract which could make a deal for the defender difficult to negotiate.

Compounding Arsenal’s challenge is the absence of a release clause in Hato’s new contract, as confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Despite consistent scouting efforts from the Gunners, any potential move for Hato appears unlikely this summer, leaving Arsenal to ponder future opportunities as they seek to bolster their defensive ranks.
