Arda Guler is an 18 year old with a big future. Despite his tender age, Guler has made 32 appearances for Turkish giants Fenerbahce and already made his debut for the Turkish national team. There is indeed a massive amount of hype around the teenager.
For those who haven’t heard of him, Guler has been nicknamed ‘the Turkish Messi’. No pressure there then!
Thanks to that billing, Guler has been linked with a whole bunch of teams including the original Messi’s former club Barcelona, as well as English Premier League sides Liverpool, Newcastle United and Arsenal.
And now, FootballTransfers are reporting that Arsenal head the queue when it comes to English teams looking to sign the youngster.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has told the publication that Arsenal are the English club most interested in signing Guler.
“I’m told the Gunners have leapfrogged Newcastle in the race for Fenerbahce sensation Arda Guler.
“The Magpies held talks with the 18-year-old’s representatives but Arsenal are now the English club most interested in sealing a deal.”
With so many clubs credited with an interest in the player, it could be that Arsenal are just the only English club remaining in the chase, with others either focusing on other targets or believing the player may be interested in moving elsewhere. Either way, this could be a really exciting signing for Mikel Arteta’s side. If Guler can translate his performances from Turkey to England, then he’ll be a real gem of a signing for any club.
