Arsenal are actively seeking a new midfield addition this summer, with players like Martin Zubimendi and Bruno Guimaraes on their radar. However, securing these deals might not be straightforward.

In light of this, Steve Kay, speaking on KS1TV, mentioned that Arsenal also holds a keen interest in Manu Kone as a potential midfield recruit.

Kone, who is currently with Borussia Moenchengladbach, has caught Arsenal’s eye due to his commanding presence on the field.

Steve Kay said: ‘Other than that, there are a few. Kone they have been looking into, they do like Kone, Onana, again I think is a non-starter. I might be wrong, but he can’t get a game for Everton at the moment and they’re asking for £60-70m.’

While Kone may not boast the same level of experience as Zubimendi and Guimaraes, he brings excitement of his own to the table. As the captain of France’s talented U21 squad, he has showcased promise and potential. The Bundesliga website has even drawn comparisons between Kone and Jude Bellingham, indicating his caliber.

Several months ago, French football expert Jonathan Johnson shed light on Kone’s future, indicating a likelihood of his departure from Gladbach this summer.

Jonathan Johnson had said, ‘Manu Kone is a name coming up again after we saw him linked with Liverpool last summer, and now with Arsenal as they look for a midfielder ahead of the next transfer window.

‘He’s a name that pops up quite often for top European clubs, so it’s not surprising to see him making headlines again.’

If Arsenal were to sign the Frenchman, often hailed as a ‘one-man army in midfield,’ it would add an interesting dynamic to the midfield setup. While their initial plan seemed to focus on a more defensive-minded player to complement Declan Rice, Kone’s attacking prowess suggests a potential shift in strategy.

With a valuation of £35 million, Kone remains within Arsenal’s financial reach, making him a feasible target for the club. His potential arrival could inject the team with fresh energy and versatility.
