Arsenal have been linked with a number of players so far during the January transfer window, with Mikel Arteta determined to do business this month despite the lack of funds currently available to him.
Arsenal spent over £200million in the summer on four new signings which means they need to sell before they buy this month in order to stay in line with FFP. The club are in the market for a player who can improve the squad at a relatively cheap price and Galatasaray full-back Sacha Boey could present the Gunners with an opportunity.
According to the latest reports, Bayern Munich were leading the race to sign the French full-back after having an initial £15million bid rejected. The German giants are set to follow up with a second offer of around £30million. However they now face competition from Arsenal and PSG.
Galatasaray are willing to let the player leave in the final week of the January transfer window, but only if their £30million valuation is met. According to A Spor, Arsenal have made an initial offer to rival Bayern Munich with Mikel Arteta determined to improve his defensive options for the second half of the season.
Reports in Turkey claimed last summer that Arsenal submitted a bid for Boey of around £18million which was eventually rejected. However according to reports, the Gunners are looking at the French international again.
Sacha Boey is said to be ready for a new challenge as he wants to be playing in Europe with Euro 2024 just around the corner. The 23-year-old can operate on either side of the defence, similar to Jurrien Timber which is one of the main reasons Mikel Arteta is such a huge fan of the player.
Last year, former Arsenal star Bacary Sagna described Sacha Boey as an ‘amazing’ footballer and urged the Gunners to sign him.
