According to reports, Arsenal have made contact with the agent of England midfielder regarding a move ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to recent reports, Arsenal are interested in signing Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer. Arsenal are expected to have one of their biggest transfer windows in the clubs history and midfield is one of the main positions they are looking to strengthen ahead of next season.
Mason Mount has been out for a good part of the 22/23 season due to injury and is not necessarily in his best form. With 12 months remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have not been able to convince the player to sign a new long-term deal, with Mount currently not happy with the situation at the Blues under Todd Boehly.
Mason Mount’s contract situation has led Arsenal to enquire about the players’ availability and what we understand is that if the Gunners are willing to meet Chelsea’s valuation of the player, then the Blues will be happy to let Mount go, even to a London rival.
According to The Athletic Liverpool as well as Arsenal are also in the mix for the England international. While Liverpool are focused on signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, they are closely monitoring Mount’s situation.
With Granit Xhaka set to leave the Gunners this summer, Mikel Arteta sees Mason Mount as the perfect player to fill his spot. He fits the young English core that is being formed at the Emirates Stadium alongside Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah as well as the potential signing of Declan Rice.
Declan Rice and Mason Mount are best mates outside of football which could also play a part in both moves happening this summer.
Fabrizio Romano revealed in his Caught Offside column that Mount’s contract talks with Chelsea have not totally collapsed. Chelsea are still hoping to convince Mount to sign a contract with the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as new head coach. Pochettino is a fan of Mason Mount and wants to keep him in the squad.
According to 90min, Arsenal have made contact with Mount’s agents and have “registered” their interest in the player. Arsenal’s lack of depth costed them the Premier League title this season and Mikel Arteta is determined to make sure the same doesn’t happen in 2023/24. However, the Gunners have secured Champions League football for next season and are looking to strengthen their squad in order to be able to compete for all competitions.
Mason Mount is a proven Premier League player and has also won a Champions League with Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel. The Blues are without any European football next season after finishing 12th in the Premier League which could persuade Mount to leave his boyhood club ahead of next season.
