After coming close last season, Arsenal are aiming to go one better in 2023/24 and overcome Manchester City to win their first Premier League title in 20 years.
Mikel Arteta said at the end of last season that the club needed a huge summer if they wanted to go one better next season and win the Premier League title, as well as being back in the Champions League for the first time in seven years. It appears the people at the top of the club have listened to the Arsenal manager with over £200million set to be spent within the first few weeks of the summer window.
The Gunners announced the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea earlier this week in a move worth £65million. However that’s only the beginning with deals for Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber close to completion, and according to The Mirror, they both could even be wrapped up within the next 48 hours.

Arsenal are aiming to overtake one of the best sides the Premier League has ever seen in Manchester City next season. With Pep Guardiola’s side winning the treble in 2023, Mikel Arteta knew the Gunners would have to go big if they stand a chance of beating his former-side and that’s exactly what Stan and Josh Kroenke have done this summer.
Just as important as the new signings, Arsenal are also set to complete William Saliba’s long-term contract extension which is expected to be announced once the Frenchman returns from his holiday next week. Losing Saliba to injury last season was one of the main reasons why the Gunners lost their advantage in the title race towards the end of the campaign so tying him down to a new deal was one of the club’s main priorities ahead of next season.

The club are also keen to complete Reiss Nelson’s contract extension too with the winger out of contract this summer, which is also expected to be announced sometime next week.
Arsenal wanted to complete the majority of their transfer business early in the summer window so any new signings get a full pre-season under Mikel Arteta ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. The Gunners are set kick-off their pre-season in around 10 days time with all three of their new signings expected to be in the squad.
Talks between Arsenal and West Ham over England midfielder Declan Rice are ongoing but according to recent reports the two clubs are just ironing out the last few details before a £105million deal can be agreed. Arsenal remain confident as both parties are on the same page and want the same outcome.
Versatile Ajax defender Jurrien Timber is expected to cost Arsenal around £40million, with a deal set to be finalised next week. The Dutch international will be Arsenal’s second signing of the summer after Kai Havertz completed his move to North London earlier this week.
Upon joining Arsenal, Havertz said: “It’s super exciting for me to be joining this amazing club and to be part of the Arsenal family. This club has such a big history, and I hope we can achieve lots of things.”
“The mentality in the Arsenal squad is very high and you can feel that. That was one of the reasons why it has been so hard to play against Arsenal recently.”
“The aim is to win trophies and I’m going to give everything to do that for the supporters and everyone at the club. I’m now looking forward to meeting all the players and the staff when we come back for pre-season.”
