Auston Trusty joined Arsenal from Colorado Rapids on 31st January 2022. However, he was immediately loaned back to Colorado Rapids for the remainder of the season.
Following his return from loan, Arsenal again loaned out the player to Birmingham City for the 2022/23 campaign. He has been an integral part of their squad and has featured in many games as a starter this season.
Speaking on his loan move, Trusty said:
“Coming from the U.S. I knew I would have to prove myself. I really was an unproven European player, I had to prove that I can hold my ground and do my job.”
“Coming to the Championship and a team like Birmingham City that allowed me to show that was the best-case scenario.”
Trusty was voted as Birmingham’s player of the season by the club’s fans because of his impressive performances. This shows that he definitely has the hunger to prove not only to everyone but also to himself that he is a player who deserves to play in a league as competitive as the Premier League.

While Trusty has played a good amount of football in England, he is yet to make his debut with Arsenal. When asked about his future, Auston Trusty said:
“A lot is to come in the future but as a footballer those are problems you want, it’s all a good thing.”
“As a player you want to play with the best, wherever that is. Right now the Premier League is probably the best league in the world so that is obviously the goal for myself and my future.”
Trusty’s performances had also earned him a call up for the USA national team. He made his debut earlier this year in March. Trusty played the entire game and also provided an assist to Weston Mckennie’s second goal as they won 7-1 against Grenada.
The 24-year-old has made a total of 48 appearances and scored 4 goals and made 2 assists for Birmingham City. However, Arsenal’s plans for the player’s future is yet to be seen.
There is a lot of interest surrounding him if Arsenal do choose to move the player on ahead of next season, with Rangers one club keeping a close eye on the American this summer.
