Arsenal are reportedly ahead of competition to sign talented winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund next summer. According to German outlet Bild, the 19-year-old has emerged as a target for Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Bynoe-Gittens have recently signed a new contract extension with Dortmund that will keep him at the club until at least 2028, but is believed to favour a move back home with the right club and proposal.

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the England U21 international and will encourage the recruitment team to explore the possibility of bringing him to the Emirates Stadium in the future.

Borussia Dortmund consistently introduces promising young talents to their first-team squad each season. Their strategy of signing and nurturing teenagers, providing them with valuable first-team experience from an early age, serves as an effective means to strengthen their squad and generate substantial profits from player transfers.

In recent history, players like Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham were acquired from English clubs for relatively modest fees and later sold to Manchester United and Real Madrid for significantly higher sums. It appears that Borussia Dortmund has identified their next potential major asset, and it comes in the form of another English prodigy, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

Bynoe-Gittens made the move to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City’s youth academy in 2020 with the initial plan of joining Dortmund’s youth development system, all while being just 16 years old at the time. Unfortunately, shortly after his arrival at the club, the young talent suffered an ankle ligament injury that sidelined him for several months.

This setback briefly interrupted his progress, raising concerns among club officials about the impact on his career trajectory. However, he made a successful return and rapidly emerged as a highly promising talent for Dortmund.

Bynoe-Gittens made a strong impression with Borussia Dortmund’s U19 team, particularly in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored six goals in five appearances during the 2021/22 season. He earned his debut with the first team in the same season. In the 2022/23 season, he made 20 appearances in various competitions for the senior squad, with 15 of those as a substitute.

During this time, he contributed three goals and one assist in just 676 minutes of play, an impressive performance, especially for a teenager at the beginning of his senior career. Bynoe-Gittens also represented England at various youth levels.

The 18-year-old winger primarily operates from the left flank, where he exhibits a preference for cutting inside onto his stronger right foot. Nonetheless, he is equally proficient on the right wing, presenting a challenge to opposing defenses. His cutting inside from the left poses a constant threat, ranking in the top percentile for shots per 90 among attacking midfielders and wingers in Europe’s major leagues. He utilizes his exceptional ball-striking and unpredictable timing to unsettle goalkeepers.

Bynoe-Gittens displays proficiency with both feet, enhancing his versatility and making him a challenging opponent for defenders to anticipate. This versatility contributes to his impressive dribbling statistics.

The English talent is a prolific dribbler who exhibits the flair and confidence of a seasoned professional. His remarkable agility allows for unpredictable ball movements and rapid changes of direction, leaving defenders bewildered.

Instead of relying solely on his speed, Bynoe-Gittens leverages his acceleration over short distances to create separation from his markers, particularly in half-spaces and when entering the penalty area.

His nimbleness enables him to evade multiple defenders in a single possession, and he displays signs of excellent decision-making despite his youth. This diverse skill set results in an array of shot-creating actions (SCA) and goal-creating actions (GCA) for his team.
