Arsenal are reportedly set to join the race for Ajax’s talented right-back, Devyne Rensch.

Recent reports from CBS Sports suggest that the Gunners have been actively scouting the player, but they face stiff competition from English giants Liverpool and Manchester United, both vying for Rensch’s services.

The pursuit of Rensch aligns with Arsenal’s urgent need to fortify their defensive lineup due to recent injuries plaguing Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Thomas Partey. Jorrel Hato, Ajax’s left-back, has also emerged as a potential target for the North London club ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

However, Arsenal’s focus isn’t solely on the 17-year-old Rensch; they’ve also cast their eye on a 20-year-old teammate within the Eredivisie club’s ranks. While Rensch has predominantly operated as a right-back this season, his versatility across the defensive line makes him an attractive prospect for potential suitors.

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, shares a history with Rensch during their time together at Ajax, fostering a keen interest from the Red Devils in a possible reunion. Ten Hag has previously lauded Rensch, praising his vision, athleticism, and technical prowess, envisioning a promising career for the Dutch international.

Rensch has contributed two assists in 13 league appearances this season and showcased his adaptability by featuring in defensive midfield when required. His adeptness at playing out from the back, impeccable passing ability, ball retention skills, and tackling proficiency make him an enticing prospect for Arsenal’s defensive lineup.

The Gunners, eyeing Rensch’s talent and versatility, could greatly benefit from his skill set in the second half of the campaign. However, the possibility of a January move remains uncertain, hinting that Arsenal might have to wait until the summer transfer window for a realistic chance at securing Rensch’s services.

Despite Arsenal’s interest, Ajax are resolute in their aim to secure a spot in European competitions this season after a shaky start. The Dutch club are determined to retain key players like Devyne Rensch to bolster their chances, potentially complicating Arsenal’s pursuit in the immediate future.
