Some more transfer news this morning and this time it’s related to the Arsenal midfield department.

Writing on his substack account, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs is reporting that Arsenal have joined the race to sign England and West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

Rice, who is also captain of the club, is nearing the end of his contract at The Hammers as he has under 18 months to go on his current deal. With West Ham struggling for points this season it’s highly unlikely that Rice would be interested in signing a contract extension, especially considering the calibre of clubs who have been linked with him in the past including the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.

West Ham will be loathe to see his leave on a free and Jacobs suggests that Rice could be set for a summer 2023 exit for a price at roughly £70m.

Although Arsenal midfield trio of Grant Xhaka, Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard have been hugely impressive this season, you can never have enough good players in the middle of the park and surely Arsenal fans would love to see a player like Declan Rice at the Emirates next season.

Great Article! Would like to know more details on his contract at West Ham tho and see what his wage is, possibly unaffordable for arsenal.
