Arsenal remain optimistic about securing star striker Stina Blackstenius to a fresh contract, amidst interests from several prominent clubs. Blackstenius, whose current deal with the Gunners ends at the end of the season, has been on the radar of heavyweights including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old Swede has been key for Arsenal this season, emerging as the top scorer with an impressive tally of 17 goals. Despite the allure of competing offers, Arsenal stand firm in their determination to extend Blackstenius’ tenure at the club, considering her a fundamental component for their future endeavors.

In addition to negotiations with Blackstenius, Arsenal are eyeing reinforcements for the upcoming season, with Barcelona winger Mariona Caldentey high on their list of targets. The 28-year-old, instrumental in Spain’s triumph at the Women’s World Cup last year, finds herself contemplating her next move as her contract nears its conclusion this season. Arsenal’s interest in Caldentey intensifies after the confirmation of Vivianne Miedema’s departure.

Miedema, Arsenal’s long-standing attacking force and the Women’s Super League’s all-time leading scorer, will bid adieu to the club after a seven-year stint. While Manchester City lead the race for her signature, European clubs also express interest, marking an end to Miedema’s era at Arsenal.

As Arsenal prepares for their final Women’s Super League fixture against Brighton on May 18, the club finds themselves out of contention for the title, trailing leaders Manchester City by a margin of five points. Clare Wheatley, Arsenal’s director of women’s football, extends gratitude to Miedema, acknowledging her profound connection with the club’s supporters and reminiscing on her illustrious tenure.

Furthermore, Arsenal aim to reinforce their squad with a new goalkeeper, following the confirmation of Sabrina D’Angelo’s imminent departure. Among the prospects is Aston Villa goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar, whose contractual release clause stands at £200,000.

With the summer transfer window looming, Arsenal’s strategic pursuits reflect their ambition to fortify their squad for future challenges, as they bid farewell to stalwarts like Miedema while nurturing hopes of retaining talents like Blackstenius.
