It’s no secret Mikel Arteta is desperate to bring in a couple of reinforcements in January to help his side bridge the gap in the Premier League during the second half of the campaign. Arsenal currently sit in fourth place, five points behind league leaders Liverpool.
The Gunners have struggled over the past two games, losing to West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium followed by another defeat to Fulham. Arsenal’s lack of squad depth is hurting them once again, with Thomas Partey, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Fabio Vieira and Jurrien Timber all currently unavailable.
Mikel Arteta is determined to fix the issue as soon as possible with Arsenal stepping up their interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. The Gunners have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Belgium after it was revealed the Toffees may have to sell in January due to their current financial situation.
According to reliable reports, Arsenal are currently in talks with Everton over the signing of Amadou Onana in January. There has been constant dialogue between the two clubs for a few weeks now the Gunners desperate to bring the player in this month.
Mikel Arteta ideally wants to sign a defender and a midfielder in January, with a new striker expected to be top priority in the summer. Arsenal have also been linked with moves for Joao Palhinha of Fulham as well as Manchester City midfielder, Kalvin Phillips. However it appears Onana is Mikel Arteta’s number one target as of right now.
In defence the Gunners have recently spoken to Fenerbahce over the signing of versatile left-back Ferdi Kadioglu. The North London outfit are also showing serious interest in Ajax youngster, Jorrel Hato.
It’s been confirmed Arsenal do need to sell before they make any new signings this month with Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson, Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey the main players attracting interest with just over three weeks of the window to go.
