According to CalcioMercato, Arsenal and title rivals Manchester City are “closely following” the situation of Leeds United winger Willy Gnonto.
After Leeds’ relegation was confirmed on the final day of the Premier League season, there is newfound pressure on the Yorkshire club to sell many talented players to fund a rebuild, with one being the 19-year-old Gnonto.
Coming through the Inter Milan academy, Gnonto has already been capped 10 times for Italy; scoring 1 goal in the process. The Italian managed to rack up 4 goals and 4 assists in 23 appearances for Leeds in 22/23; his first season in England following a €4.5m transfer from FC Zurich in summer 2022.

Able to play on either flank and as an attacking midfielder, Gnonto would bolster the depth of Arsenal’s attacking force in multiple positions; as seen from previous acquisitions, versatility is a desirable characteristic towards Mikel Arteta.
With Champions League football making its long-awaited return to the Emirates Stadium next season, it makes sense as to why Arteta is reportedly targeting Gnonto, who can cover and provide competition for Arsenal stars Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
However, if Arsenal were to ramp up their reported interest in Gnonto, they would face competition from treble-chasers Manchester City, and top Serie A clubs.
