Recent reports have emerged that Arsenal have had talks with Ivan Fresneda’s representatives regarding the possibility of the player moving to North London. Fresneda has been on Arsenal’s radar since before the January Transfer window. He has caught the eyes of several other clubs as well such as Newcatsle, Dortmund and Juventus with his impressive string of performances in Spain this season.
Arsenal are keen on bringing the player into the squad come the summer transfer window. They reportedly tried to sign the player in January but failed to do so as Fresneda wanted to stay with Valladolid until the end of the season.
Kaya Kaynak has told GiveMeSport, that Edu had held talks with Fresneda’s agents over a possible move to the Emirates Stadium…
”The meetings took place in January between Edu and the player’s representatives. There are a lot of teams that are interested in Fresneda and this is a running theme throughout Arsenal’s transfer business. Lots of teams are interested in trying to sign their targets. We saw this in January with Mudryk and Caicedo as well. It’s the same with Fresneda because Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund are interested, so there is lots of competition for him.”
Ivan Fresneda joined Real Valladolid from Real Madrid’s youth academy in 2020. He was then promoted to the main squad for the 2022/23 season. He has consistently been putting up good performances and has made a reputation for himself. Fresneda averaged 2.9 tackles, 2.5 clearances and 1.3 interceptions per game in the Spanish league. These stats are currently better than that of Arsenal’s current first choice right back, Ben White.
Ivan Fresneda’s current contract ends in the summer of 2025, however the player has a £27million release clause included in his current deal.
Whether any team, let alone Arsenal, values the player that much and is willing to pay the release clause is yet to be seen.
