Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign Barcelona youngster and Spanish international Ansu Fati. Following the most recent comments made from his father the Barcelona star’s future is now in jeopardy.
The 20-year-old winger has endured a tough run of constant injuries which has left him sidelined for a subsequent amount of time this season. On his most recent return to fitness he has seen himself benched due to Xavi favoring others out wide with the likes of Raphinha & Ferran Torres ahead of him. Two players Arsenal are also looking at ahead of the summer.
These decisions have left Ansu Fati’s father unhappy with him making the following comments…
“I don’t know why Xavi does not play Ansu. He must have his reasons. Ansu is not disgusted with him as Xavi was always his idol. But me I am very angry as a father.
Mateu Alemany tells me that Ansu is part of the club’s heritage. As a father, I have told Ansu that it is better for him to leave. But Ansu has told me that he does not agree with me on this. He wants to stay.
If it was up to me, I would leave Barcelona tomorrow.”

Although it is clearly stated that Ansu Fati himself is willing to fight for his place within the Barcelona ranks the discomfort off the field is evident. Xavi himself is yet to comment on the situation however losing a player of Fati’s calibre would be huge a loss to the Spanish giants.
Ansu Fati has scored 25 goals & recorded 9 assists in 96 appearances at Barcelona so far. For a winger that’s only 20-years-old, they’re very impressive numbers which is why it’s not surprise many big clubs around Europe are keeping a close eye on the players future ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Ansu Fati is clearly a name attracting a lot of interest. From rising through the ranks at La Masia the talent was undeniably clear. Aged 16 years and 298 days, he became the second-youngest player to debut for Barcelona.
The journey since has been hit and miss due to injuries however prior to the unfortunate setbacks his performances spoke volumes of the potential of this starlet. Becoming the youngest player to score a brace in La Liga, stealing the headlines in the Champions League to inheriting the famous number 10 shirt at Barcelona after Lionel Messi. The showboating brilliance has been witnessed in glimmers and it’s without a doubt, if the injuries are set aside, we could truly witness a great star in the future.
Time will tell if that’s at Barcelona or elsewhere…
