Marco Asensio has recently regained form for Real Madrid after scoring two goals and grabbing one assist since the 22nd of February against Celtic and RB Leipzig in the Champions league. He recently scored against Elche FC in a 3-0 win in La Liga as well.
The RCD Mallorca youngster is known for scoring the most unorthodox of goals and has mostly been a rotational player, but this season, the winger has found more game time with 18 appearances for Real Madrid so far, scoring four goals and creating three assists.
The winger has tough competition with wonder kid Rodrygo who plays in a similar position to Asensio. The 18 appearances Asensio has racked up show the genuine quality he possesses, with Real Madrid currently sitting second in the league. If Arsenal were to place a bid for the Spaniard, Real Madrid would be looking for €25m according to TransferMarkt.

The player has been reported to want a four-year contract that would last until Asesnio is 31. He also wants his contract to be set higher than his current contract of £118,000 a week.
According to Diario SPORT Arsenal isn’t the only team going for Asensio to bolster their wide options. AC Milan, who have been inconsistent this season, also want more squad depth and are looking to find themselves a winger come the summer transfer window. As Asensio is primarily a right-sided man this would help Arsenal provide some much needed squad depth for Bukayo Saka.
Another team linked to Asensio is Real Madrid’s rivals Barcelona, which would be quite the controversial singing, not just because it’s Barcelona, but because Jorge Mendes would be involved in the saga. Gerard Romero has even gone on to say that Barcelona will consider the signing come the end of the season.
The player is known for his blistering shots, hiss ability on the ball to take on players and his direct drive to progress play. Sounds like Bukayo Saka, right?
Carlo Ancelotti recently commented on the players contract situation…
“He looks good to me, I don’t know if he will stay or not. He may or may not stay, I don’t know, I don’t care much. We have a very important challenge this season. The important thing is that he is contributing, like last year. Let him continue like this and the club will make the appropriate decision.”
An Array of big teams are linked to the 27-year-old versatile winger, who can also play as a number ten, so it could be a hard signing for Arsenal to pull off. But if Arsenal were to win the league and his loyalty is in the right place, he could always end up as an Arsenal player.
So Arsenal fans, would you take Marco Asensio as a backup player for Bukayo Saka next season?
