Arsenal find perfect winger back-up option ahead of summer window

According to reports, Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign PSV attacker Xavi Simons ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are set to have one of their biggest transfer windows in the clubs history, with two midfielders, an attacker, a centre-back and a full-back all on Arsenal’s shopping list this summer. Declan Rice is said to be Arsenal’s number one target, however many other options are also being looked at.

Mikel Arteta’s side put together a surprising title charge in 2022/23, however just fell short over the last few weeks but the Gunners will look to come back even more prepared next season, in the hope they can go one step further and win the clubs’ first league title in 20 years.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for PSV youngster Xavi Simons this week, a player who has been brilliant in Holland this season. The 20-year-old has made 32 appearances for PSV this season, scoring 16 goals & recording 9 assists.

The Mirror reports that the player has been offered to Arsenal following a change of agent.

The Dutch winger is a player Arsenal know well after Simons played 80 minutes against the Gunners in the Europa League group stage earlier this season.

PSV legend, Van der Kerkhof suggested that Simons could be ‘better’ than Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo: “A really great talent. He might be better than Gakpo. He is growing more and more, especially in the league games.”

Simons joined PSV from PSG last summer and it’s fair to say that he’s made a huge impact in his first season of regular first-team football.

The versatile midfielder usually operates in a similar position to Martin Odegaard, however he can also play anywhere across the frontline and it’s well known Mikel Arteta loves a player who can play multiple positions in his system.
