Arsenal are looking to sign Barcelona centre-back Eric Garcia in the summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
After having an approach for Garcia rejected from the player due to his desire to stay put in Barcelona in the past, Arsenal are now “hopeful” that they can persuade Garcia to make the switch to North London this summer.
Barcelona manager Xavi has selected Garcia only 11 times in La Liga in 2022/23; reportedly, the Spanish international is unsatisfied with his game time this season.
Barcelona are currently sitting atop La Liga; 12 points clear of second-place Real Madrid.
After sealing the free signing of Iñigo Martinez, Barcelona, in desperate financial distress, will almost certainly need to let go of players in order to raise funds.
Garcia was selected by Luis Enrique to participate in the World Cup 2022. At 22 years old, there is plenty of scope for Garcia to develop.

Arsenal have recently suffered injuries to key defenders William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu; highlighting the lack of depth the Gunners possess in defence. Hence, it would make sense for Arsenal to pursue a central defender in the summer window.
Mikel Arteta worked with Eric Garcia across a two-year period at Manchester City so he’s a player the Arsenal boss know very well & is clearly a big fan of. This isn’t the first time the Gunners have been linked with a move for the Spanish centre back either with the Gunners a long admirer of the of the 22-year-old.
Eric Garica isn’t the only Barcelona player Arsenal are keeping a close eye on, with Raphinha & Ferran Torres also being closely monitored ahead of the next season.
