Arsenal are growing increasingly confident in their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes, with multiple sources indicating that Sporting Director Edu Gaspar has been given assurance that a deal to bring the Brazilian midfielder to the Emirates Stadium can materialise, despite strong competition from other clubs.

The Gunners, vying for the Premier League title under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta, have enjoyed a season marked by defensive and offensive prowess. However, with their eyes set on challenging for top honours, Arsenal recognise the need to address certain deficiencies within their squad during the upcoming transfer window.

Chief among Arsenal’s priority is the signing of a new No. 9, with reports suggesting that negotiations for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee are progressing positively. Additionally, Arsenal seek to resolve their left-back dilemma, with Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, and Takehiro Tomiyasu providing temporary cover in the absence of a definitive starter.

While the return of Kieran Tierney from loan spells elsewhere was anticipated, sources indicate that the Scottish full-back may depart the Emirates Stadium in the summer, aligning with Arteta’s long-term vision for the squad. Furthermore, the impending return of Jurrien Timber from injury presents another option in defence for Arsenal.

Arsenal midfield targets

However, the midfield remains a focal point for Arsenal’s transfer strategy, with the need for a top-quality partner to complement the influential Declan Rice. Despite Jorginho’s expected contract extension, the imminent departure of Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey’s injury struggles underscore the urgency of securing midfield reinforcements.

Although Partey’s future at Arsenal appears uncertain, the Gunners are exploring alternatives to strengthen their midfield ranks. Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz emerged as a potential target, but the club’s reluctance to entertain offers has redirected Arsenal’s attention to Bruno Guimaraes.

Guimaraes, who has impressed since joining Newcastle from Lyon in 2022, has emerged as a top target for Arsenal. While the Brazilian midfielder remains content at St James’ Park, sources suggest that he would consider a move to Arsenal or Manchester City if the opportunity arises.

Despite Newcastle’s reluctance to part ways with Guimaraes, financial considerations may compel the club to entertain offers for the midfielder and with Arsenal reportedly prepared to meet the club’s valuation of £80 million for the Brazilian international.

Arsenal are also interested in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana and recent reports have surfaced that Sean Dyche does not like the Belgian and will encourage the club to accept offers for the player. While Benfica star Joao Neves is highly thought of by the club.
