Arsenal have emerged as one of the clubs interested in securing the services of Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes, with recent reports indicating that the Gunners have initiated contact regarding a potential summer deal.

Despite Arsenal’s impressive performances in the Premier League this season, their title hopes now hinge on the outcome of the final day, where they must secure a victory against Everton and hope for a slip-up from Manchester City against West Ham United.

Last summer, Arsenal bolstered their squad with signins like Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber, with Rice and Havertz making big contributions throughout the campaign, while Timber is nearing a return from injury.

As speculation swirls around potential summer signings, Arsenal have been linked with a move for 26-year-old Guimaraes, who has also attracted interest from free-spending PSG. While Manchester City are reportedly leading the race for his signature, sources suggest that a move to north London is unlikely despite recent reports indicating otherwise.

According to Ben Jacobs, there has been communication between Arsenal and Guimaraes’ camp, although Manchester City appear to be the most proactive in their pursuit. Guimaraes’ £100 million release clause is set to become active in June, presenting a significant hurdle for any potential suitors.

Jacobs noted, “Newcastle also don’t want to lose Bruno Guimaraes, but the decision could be taken out of their hands if someone triggers his £100m release clause, which is valid between late May and the end of June.”

While Guimaraes is reportedly content at Newcastle, offers exceeding £80 million from Champions League clubs could potentially sway his decision. Despite interest from Arsenal, the Gunners are hesitant to trigger his release clause and would only enter the race if the price drops.

In addition to Manchester City and Arsenal, PSG has also considered Guimaraes but opted against pursuing him this summer.
