The rumours surrounding Kylian Mbappe have been slowly intensifying over the past few weeks.
First came the news that Mbappe had told Paris Saint-Germain that he was not going to renew his contract with the club. Then the inevitable links to Real Madrid began. That turned into links with the likes of Manchester United, who are subject of takeover interest from Qatar. And there seems to now be a fresh twist in the saga with Arsenal entering the fray.
That’s because FootballTransfers are reporting that Arsenal are considering a move for Kylian Mbappe in 2024.
Mbappe’s contract expires in 2024 and it’s believed that Real Madrid will be favourites to land him at that time. However, the publication reports that Arsenal admire the French forward and are considering whether to send a package to the player’s representatives.
The belief is that if Mbappe’s move to Real hits a snag, it could open the doors for other teams to step in and Arsenal would like to be in a strong position with the player if that’s the case.
Although it looks unlikely at this stage, if Mbappe were to join up with Mikel Arteta’s side on a free, it would be the deal of the century. Arsenal do have history of taking a world class French forward and elevating him on the world stage and Mbappe could do worse than becoming the successor to Thierry Henry at Emirates Stadium.
