Arsenal are set to have their biggest ever summer transfer window ahead of next season with a the Gunners stepping up their interest in Leicester City’s full-back.

Arsenal have been monitoring Timothy Castagne’s situation at Leicester City after the club were relegated from the Premier League this season. The player is desperate to leave the club with Arsenal reportedly closing in on making the deal happen.

Takehiro Tomiyasu has been cover for Ben White this campaign, however Mikel Arteta wants more depth ahead of a return to the Champions League next season & with Kieran Tierney potentially leaving, a new full-back remains one of the priorities this summer.

Ben White’s position at right-back is more than secure after the outstanding year he’s had in his new position. However Mikel Arteta is keen to add competition to his squad and Timothy Castagne is one option the Gunners are now actively pursuing ahead of next season.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, things are expected to move quickly on this deal with Arsenal wanting it wrapped up as soon as possible.

The 27-year-old featured in 37 games for the Foxes this season, scoring two goals and recording three assists in that time. However it was been an incredibly disappointing season for Leicester after they got relegated from the Premier League meaning Arsenal could get the Belgian for a cut-price this summer.

Castagne has made 91 Premier League appearances in total for Leicester and would bring a decent level of experience to a young Arsenal side as they look to make another step up next season.

The Belgian signed for Leicester from Italian side, Atalanta in September 2020 for a fee of £20million. It’s expected he will cost less than that if Arsenal choose to bring him to North London.

As well as the Leicester City man, Ivan Fresneda of Real Valladolid is another option Arsenal are weighing up to act as cover for Ben White next season.
