Ahead of the summer transfer window, Arsenal are making progress in their bid to sign a player whom Kieran Tierney regards as a ‘world-class’ footballer.

Acquiring players from other teams is a time-consuming process. It can take months or even an entire year to ensure everything is ready to make an offer.

Edu Gaspar is working on finalizing this deal as well as pursuing other targets identified by Mikel Arteta to strengthen the team.

According to Sportscasting, Arsenal are working on securing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. They’re also considering Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle, but Zubimendi appears to be the top priority.

Zubimendi is no stranger to Arsenal. They attempted to acquire him in January 2023 but ended up signing Jorginho from Chelsea FC instead.

Currently, Martin Zubimendi has a release clause of £53m at Real Sociedad. The Arsenal target has been a consistent performer in Sociedad’s lineup this season, contributing four goals.

Arsenal star Kieran Tierney, who played alongside Zubimendi at Real Sociedad, has praised him as a great player. Tierney believes that people in England might not fully appreciate his talents because they primarily watch the Premier League.

Speaking to the Guardian, Kieran Tierney said: ‘You have world-class players like Zubimendi… It’s not that people don’t think they’re good, it’s just that if you’re only watching the Premier League every week, it’s hard to know.’

In addition to Tierney’s comments, Edu has been tracking the midfielder for some time and has gathered sufficient information on his playing qualities and how he would enhance the current Arsenal squad.

As the summer approaches, there is a possibility that Martin Zubimendi could replace Italian international Jorginho, who may depart Arsenal for Juventus.
