According to Italian news publication Calciomercato, Arsenal look to have already completed their first deal of the new year though with a pre-contract agreement for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka.
The French defender is out of contract in the summer and it is reported that his move to Arsenal is “in the pipeline” and “expected” to be completed.
The 23-year-old had also been linked to Tottenham Hotspur but it seemed that Arsenal have jumped ahead of them in the queue to sign him up.
Eintracht Frankfurt chief Markus Krosche had emphasised his Bundesliga side’s wish to keep Evan Ndicka just a few days ago, but with no new contract agreed it seems inevitable that Ndicka will be moving to the Premier League next season.
Ndicka has been a huge part of Frankfurt’s backline over the past couple of seasons, helping them secure UEFA Champions League football and impressing even further as they progressed out of their group (one that included the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Marseille and Sporting Lisbon) to set up a Round of 16 clash with Italian league leaders Napoli.
