Arsenal tried to sign Moises Caicedo in January and it appears the Gunners will be back in for the Brighton midfielder this summer with terms being agreed.

Brighton have agreed to sell Arsenal target, Moises Caicedo ahead of next season, but have set a very high price tag on the midfielder this summer, according to TheSecretScout on Twitter.

The 21-year-old Ecuadorian could have left Brighton in January with the player wanting to leave, however after two rejected bids Arsenal turned their attention to Jorginho and Moises Caicedo stayed at the Amex to help the Seagulls secure European football for the first time in the clubs history.

However the situation appears to be different now the season has come to an end and Brighton will allow their star midfielder to leave this summer as long as their valuation is met. Arsenal are only one of many teams interested in signing Caicedo ahead of next season with Chelsea also serious contenders for his signature.

It’s been reported today that Chelsea are set to miss out on Manuel Ugarte as he’s set to join PSG over the London club. It’s a blow for the Blues, however they’re now set to turn their attention to Moises Caicedo which could be a worry for Arsenal who won’t get into a bidding war for the Ecuadorian. Arsenal have their maximum valuation and they won’t go over that.

Moises Caicedo has been a massive part of Brighton’s successful 2022/23 campaign, with his versatility being a big reason why so many clubs are after him this summer. He mainly featured in central midfield, but was introduced as an inverted full-back over the last few weeks of the season and flourished there under De Zerbi.

According to TheSecretScout, Brighton have set their price at £100million for Moises Caieco this summer. However they’ll be willing to lower the price if the buying club is willing to offer a player in exchange.

Considering Arsenal’s main focus right now is on Declan Rice, it’s currently unclear whether the Gunners would be willing to splash around £200million on just one position ahead of next season. Arsenal do have Champions League football to offer Caicedo, something Chelsea don’t, which could hand the Gunners an advantage in the race, however right now it appears unlikely Arsenal will make a move for the Brighton midfielder.

According to Ecuadorian media outlet, Teradeportes, Caicedo has already agreed personal terms with the Gunners, and if it comes to his preference rather than which team offers more money then we could see the Ecuadorian in an Arsenal shirt very soon.

Arsenal would be Caicedo’s preferred destination over Chelsea this summer, it just depends on whether the Gunners will be willing to match the Blues offer in the coming weeks.

Caicedo made 37 appearances in the Premier League for Brighton this season, scoring and assisting once, with an average rating of 7.08, according to SofaScore. His performances have put him in the conversation for the best Premier League team of the season, as well as individual awards such as Young Player of the Season.

There is no doubt that if Arsenal sign Caicedo, it will be a massive statement and with him potentially pairing with Rice, Arsenal could have a midfield pivot sorted for the foreseeable future.
