Arsenal could see a major change in their midfield ahead of the 2023/34 campaign as another central midfielder faces a potential exit.

It’s been well reported that Arsenal are preparing to have one of their biggest transfer windows in the club’s history. The aim is to bring in enough quality in depth to compete in the Champions League and attempt to dethrone Manchester City as the champions of England, after Pep Guardiola’s side have now won five of the last six league titles in England.

Arsenal are reportedly highly focused on adding depth to the central midfield area ahead of next season. Current players such as Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka could well see their chapters at Arsenal come to an end this summer.

Thomas Partey is currently being linked with a move away from North London with two Serie A clubs interested in signing the Ghanaian this summer. Partey has two years left on his Arsenal contract so now could be the best time to sell the player for maximum value. Granit Xhaka is also set to join German side Bayer Leverkusen with the deal complete. However Mikel Arteta wants to bring in a replacement before he gives the green light on the deal to go ahead.

The likes of Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo, Mason Mount and Ilkay Gundogan have all been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer. Mikel Arteta wants to sign two new central midfielder this summer, as well as strengthening elsewhere. However in order to maintain a proper wage structure, Arsenal will have to let go of some current players, such as the likes of Partey and Xhaka.

Arsenal are getting closer to signing their number one summer target in West Ham captain, Declan Rice. The Gunners are expected to pay up to £100million to sign the England international with a formal bid expected to be sent by the end of the week.

Moises Caicedo was a player the Gunners were interested in, in January, but Brighton rejected all of Arsenal’s bids and renewed his contract instead. However Arsenal’s interest remains but no offer will go in until the Declan Rice deal is done first. Arsenal are hopeful they can bring in both players this summer which would transform their midfield area and take it to another level, however the Gunners know they need to move fast.

Arsenal do face big competition from Chelsea for Moises Caicedo’s signature. However the Blues have to sell players before they buy this summer, which gives the Gunners an advantage if they can get the Declan Rice deal sorted soon.

Manchester City captain, Ilkay Gundogan has also been linked with a move to Arsenal. The German’s contract is up at the end of the season and it’s currently unclear whether he will leave the club as a free agent or renew his contract in the couple of weeks. Arsenal have sent a contract offer to Ilkay Gundogan and they’re now waiting for the player to make up his mind on where he wants to play his football next season. Mikel Arteta has remained in constant contact with the German since leaving Manchester City nearly 3 years ago.
