Arsenal’s offensive trio of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Ødegaard could see themselves join the top ten best Premier League trios of all time.
The Arsenal boys have recorded 55 goals contributions among them so far this season and if they continue in this fashion, they could go as high as being sixth on the all time attacking trios table.
The three Arsenal boys divided the goal contributions almost equally so far this season, with Bukayo Saka scoring 12 goals and assisting 10 times, Gabriel Martinelli scoring 13 and assisting 3 and captain, Martin Ødegaard scoring 10 and assisting 7 times.
There’s still nine games to go for them to improve on their already very impressive returns so far this season…
In comparison to some of Arsenal’s earlier attacking trios, if they continue this way, Saka, Martinelli and Ødegaard will be just two goals short of Arsenal’s legendary trio Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Robert Pires.
The rest of top 5 consists of:
5. Henry, Bergkamp, Pires (2003/04)
4. Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez (2007/08)
3. Alli, Kane, Son (2016/17)
2. Salah, Firmino, Mane (2017/18)
1. Lampard, Drogba, Anelka (2009/10).
An interesting stat here is that only one of the trios above didn’t go on to win the league in that same season. I’m sure you can figure out which trio it was…
The question is, can Arsenal’s attacking three lead the club to their first Premier League title since 2003/04? Only time will tell but if they carry on contributing the way they are then the Gunners will certainly have a great chance of lifting the trophy come the end of the season.
