Arsenal’s 20 year-old striker, Mika Biereth, has enjoyed success in Scotland after he secured a loan deal at Motherwell in the summer.

The striker joined Arsenal when he moved across London from Fulham in 2021. After scoring 21 goals in 21 games in the U18 Premier League for the Cottagers, the Danish international underwhelmingly only produced 11 goals in the same number of games in his first season in North London. Biereth was then loaned to Eredivisie club, RKC Waalwijk, at the start of the 22/23 season, but the striker only converted two goals in 12 games. However, after a poor stint on loan, Biereth has found himself at Scottish club, Motherwell, and he may have just found his goalscoring form once again.

In Biereth’s first game for Motherwell, the Arsenal man scored and assisted in his first 30 minutes as a substitute. However, Biereth’s start to life in Scotland turned south as the striker sustained a knee injury in August, which ruled him out for eight games until the end of October. But in his first game back after injury, the striker replicated the output on his debut, but this time, he scored a goal and assisted in just 13 minutes. The striker has scored four goals since then, meaning the loanee has registered a total of eight goal involvements in ten league appearances in Scotland.

Motherwell manager, Stuart Kettlewell has been “blown away” with Biereth whilst on loan at the club, and has praised the striker on his mentality. Biereth secured his side a draw after securing a late equaliser against St Johnstone on Saturday, and the Scottish coach explained that, “for a young guy here on loan from Arsenal, it shows how much he’s in with the cause, and that delights me.”

Biereth is now just three goals off top spot in the Scottish Premiership top goal-scoring rankings, and if he continues to impress before his return to Arsenal, he may be given a chance to impress next season.
