David Raya made his Premier League debut for the Gunners on Sunday after Mikel Arteta chose to play his new summer signing over Aaron Ramsdale for the first time at Goodison Park.

Despite being dropped to the bench, Martin Odegaard has praised Aaron Ramsdale for his attitude on Sunday with the Arsenal number one expected to come back into the team for the Gunners’ Champions League clash against PSV on Wednesday night.

Arsenal finally won at Goodison Park for the first time in six years and they’re set to play in Europe’s elite competition for the first time in seven years this week, with their last Champions League appearance coming in the 2016/17 season.

The Gunners secured a narrow victory over Everton, thanks to a Leandro Trossard second-half strike, however the scoreline didn’t tell the whole story. It was a very dominant display from Mikel Arteta’s side who remain unbeaten in the Premier League with four wins and a draw in their opening five games.

David Raya kept an important clean sheet on his Arsenal debut at Goodison Park, although he was barely tested by the home side throughout the 90 minutes.

Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard made sure to praise Aaron Ramsdale despite spending the match sitting on the Arsenal bench.

Martin Odegaard on Aaron Ramsdale: “I think he will just keep working hard, like he is always doing. Today he was there supporting us, cheering for us, helping us.

“He is a great character and he showed a very good response today by backing the team. It was excellent from him.

“We have two good goalkeepers and big competition. They have different qualities. They are both so good on the ball and in goal as well. So, we are lucky to have two such good goalkeepers and we will see who plays.”

Martin Odegaard wasnt the only man to back Aaron Ramsdale with Theo Walcott and Ian Wright also coming to the defence of the Arsenal number one. Ian Wright believes he’ll be back in the starting line-up against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.
