Forgotten Arsenal midfielder, Albert Sambi Lokonga, has found his stride during his loan spell at Luton Town, showcasing a resurgence that’s catching the eye.

The festive season proved to be a triumph for Lokonga and Luton Town, as they clinched six crucial points in their last two games. The Belgian midfielder played an important role in Luton’s recent victories, displaying a noteworthy performance that significantly contributed to the team’s success.

Returning to the Luton Town starting lineup after recovering from an early injury that sidelined him for two and a half months, Lokonga delivered an impressive display against Newcastle United on Boxing Day. Luton Town surprisingly triumph over the Magpies with 1-0 victory with Lokonga featuring for 80 minutes in the match. 

Their impressive form continued, coming back from a 2-1 deficit to clinch a 3-2 win against Sheffield United. His contributions in the game included an assist and two crucial goal-line clearances that thwarted potential threats.

Within just 17 minutes, Lokonga provided the assist for Alfie Doughty’s opening goal, showcasing his playmaking abilities with a well-placed pass that set up the goal-scoring opportunity. Despite his exceptional efforts to deny Sheffield United goals with goal-line interventions.

During the 3-2 win, Lokonga’s defensive prowess shone as he won three tackles, standing out as one of Luton’s most impactful players in the game. His crucial goal-line clearances and the assist underscored his multifaceted contribution to the team’s success.

Expressing his joy at the win, Lokonga took to Instagram, further highlighting his enthusiasm and commitment to Luton Town’s cause.

Albert Sambi Lokonga has endured a difficult period since joining Arsenal for £18million from Anderlecht in 2021 and was tipped to be the new Yaya Toure. 

Lokonga played 15 matches for Arsenal last season, featuring in every game during the Europa League group stage. He later embarked on a loan spell with Crystal Palace for the latter half of the season, where his nine appearances showcased his impressive midfield skills, contributing significantly to the team’s successful battle to secure their place in the Premier League.

Before his loan stint, Sambi Lokonga had a promising debut season at Arsenal in the 2021/22 campaign. He featured in 24 matches across various competitions, starting in 12 of Arsenal’s first 13 Premier League fixtures.
