Arsenal striker Mika Biereth made the move to Scotland this summer as he joined Motherwell until the end of the season. The young star put in a fantastic performance on his debut after providing a goal and an assist as a substitute.

Mika Biereth made his debut on Sunday against Hibernian as he came off the bench in the 55th minute and he certainly made the most of it. The Arsenal loanee played 35 minutes and it took just 11 minutes for him to help his team as he fought off a challenge before squaring the ball to Conor Wilkinson to score.

Biereth himself then made it 2-0, once again battling with a defender to win possession before twisting and turning and eventually firing into the net at the near post.

The Arsenal loanee also completed 100% of his dribbles, won five duels and made 2 key passes in the 35 minutes he was on the pitch last weekend and there’s no surprise the Scottish media was full of praise for Biereth after the game.

The Scotsman reported that Motherwell appeared to have “struck gold” with Biereth, calling his performance “one of the great Fir Park debuts”.

They added that “the 20-year-old Arsenal loanee clearly has an eye for goal but has the physical presence to suggest he could in time be well suited to the English Premier League”.

The Herald wrote that Biereth “looks a real grafter, refusing to give the Hibs backline a moment’s peace after his second-half introduction”.

The Scottish Daily Mail added that Biereth had “made a scintillating impact on his debut” and that his loan “looks like being hugely profitable for all parties”.

Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell on Mika Biereth: “He was excellent when he came on. We know he’s got quality. He’s still a young lad and going through the development phase in his career but coming from a club like Arsenal, we know he’s a good player and previously playing in Holland, has been a factor in us thinking he can play here.”

“We are delighted with the impact. You don’t ever know it is going to be like that from the first off but with the bits we’ve seen in training, he looks like a guy who can excel at this level.”
