Reports suggest that Arsenal are currently in discussions with FC Nantes regarding the potential recall of Marquinhos from his loan spell at the French club.
The Brazilian U23 international embarked on a season-long loan to the Ligue 1 side in August, yet has seen minimal game time, having made only one start since his arrival.
Marquinhos, originally signed by the Gunners in the summer of 2022 on a long-term contract, might make an early return to the Emirates, according to information from L’Équipe.
Despite having played six times for Arsenal, showcasing his prowess with a goal and an assist on his debut during a Europa League victory over FC Zurich, the 20-year-old winger has had limited opportunities on the field.
Mikel Arteta praised Marquinhos following his debut performance, highlighting the player’s popularity and positive attitude within the team.

“He’s a player that is very popular, with no English, just with his smile and attitude has won the respect and admiration of everybody here.
“It was a big step for him as he hasn’t played enough minutes with us but we were willing to give him the opportunity, I think he deserved it.”
Previously loaned out to Championship side Norwich City, where he made 11 appearances last season, Marquinhos had spent his entire career at Brazilian club São Paulo. His impressive track record includes 42 appearances for his boyhood club, winning the Campeonato Paulista in 2021 and achieving success at the Pan American Games with the Brazil U23s.
However, Marquinhos’ immediate future remains uncertain due to his call-up for Brazil’s upcoming U23 pre-Olympic tournament. This summons means an extended absence from club duties as he aims to aid Brazil in securing a spot in the summer Olympics. The tournament is scheduled to commence on January 20th and could potentially run until February 11th if Brazil advances to the latter stages.
This timeline implies that Marquinhos will likely be away from Nantes for an additional four weeks. His previous absence in November due to international commitments similarly limited his appearances for Nantes upon his return.
