
The Football Association (FA) has opened an investigation into spot-fixing during Arsenal’s 3-0 win against Oxford.
Arsenal sealed a comfortable 3-0 win in the cup fixture and see themselves go safely through to the next round however an Oxford United player could be in some trouble.
Oxford United’s Ciaron Brown was booked for a foul on Bukayo Saka in in the second half of the game and it was observed that there were several Arsenal fans celebrating the booking. This incident has been brought to the FA’s attention, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The report stated that text messages were exchanged before the match which read that Brown would receive a yellow card sometime during the game. There was also an image showing a betting slip with a £200 stake for Brown to be booked.
This alleged betting scam cost one bookmaker more than £1,600.
