Despite Arsenal sitting top of the table with 10 matches to the season, Opta supercomputer does not fancy the Gunners to go on to win the Premier League title with Manchester City still considered favourites.

The Gunners are currently leading the table on goal difference after their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday, while the reigning champions were held to a 1-1 draw at Anfield against Liverpool on Sunday. John Stones gave Manchester City the lead in the first half only for Alexis Mac Allister to find the equaliser from the penalty spot in the second half.

Opta, using their predictive analytics, suggests that Manchester City maintains a 45.9% chance of claiming the trophy. Despite the draw, they still hold the highest probability of winning, although their chances were slightly higher at 51.4% before the Anfield match. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s chances have diminished from 35.6% to 35.3% following the draw.

Arsenal emerged as the big winners of the weekend thanks to Kai Havertz’s late goal against Brentford to significantly boost their title chances from 13% to 18.8%. However, they remain behind both Manchester City and Liverpool in the race for the championship.

A BBC Sport reports has got the statisticians at OPTA to put the remaining fixtures of all Premier League clubs through their ‘supercomputer’ model to predict who will finish where in the Premier League table at the end of the campaign.

This is how they see the top half of the Premier League ending up…

Looking ahead, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal faces a crucial fixture against Manchester City at the Etihad after the international break. Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes the outcome of this match could play a pivotal role in determining the title race, stating that if City beat Arsenal, they would become strong favourites.

“I think if City beat Arsenal, they will be really strong favourites, I really do. I think if Arsenal go there and get something, I think we’ll have the same conversation, it’s up in the air.

“I do feel like Arsenal and Liverpool would need a three or four-point gap going into the last sort of five or six games of the season if they are to top City.”

While Arsenal takes a break from domestic action, they have a critical Champions League fixture against Porto this week, aiming to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.
