Opta Super Computer has predicted that Manchester City may not win their fourth consecutive Premier League title. Instead, Liverpool emerges as the new front-runner to claim the coveted trophy by the end of the season.

Following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brighton at Anfield on Easter Sunday, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side moved two points ahead at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Manchester City and Arsenal both faltered in the 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Currently, Liverpool leads the standings with 65 points, two points ahead of Arsenal and three points ahead of Manchester City. Opta’s supercomputer has simulated the remaining matches 10,000 times, increasing Liverpool’s chances of winning the title to 47.7% after their recent victory, while Manchester City’s odds have decreased to 33.5%.

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch echoes the sentiment, expressing his belief that Liverpool will clinch the title this season.

“I said Liverpool at the start of the season, and many people will say there is a bias there, and probably slightly right,” Crouch told talkSPORT. “I still think they can do it.”

While Gary Lineker is sticking with his Premier League title tip of Arsenal winning the title, having tipped them to lift the trophy back in August – but admits he has doubts. Though he remains behind the Gunners, Lineker has admitted that he has a feeling it will in fact be Liverpool who are crowned champions.

“Before we talk about Saturday’s games, who’s going to win the league, are you sticking with City? Or are you going to dump them now?” Lineker asked Alan Shearer and Micah Richards on The Rest Is Football podcast.

Alan Shearer is sticking with Manchester City: “Yeah I’m not changing my mind yet, I’ve not seen anything drastic to change my mind yet. I’m sticking with City.” Richards added: “We’re sticking, we’re sticking. We’re not twisting, we’re sticking with City. I agree with Alan.”

Lineker then admitted that while he is tipping Arsenal, he believes it will be Liverpool who will win the title. He said: “Well, I’ve stuck throughout with Arsenal, I’m going to stick with them. But I’ve got a slight feeling all three of us might be wrong. But we shall see.”

Looking ahead, Manchester City will face top-four hopefuls Aston Villa, while Liverpool takes on bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United. Arsenal, on the other hand, will confront relegation-threatened Luton as the race for the Premier League title intensifies.
