Rio Ferdinand has provided a new Premier League title prediction after Arsenal produced a top performance and result against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday.

Arsenal went into the game as underdogs, which considering how the Gunners have performed so far this season, was a bit of a surprise. However Newcastle have also had an outstanding season, as well as taking into account the same fixture last season where Arsenal got played off the park, it made the Gunners’ victory even more sweet on Sunday.

The Gunners won 2-0 at third-placed Newcastle United on Sunday to go one point behind leaders Manchester City with three matches left. However Pep Guardiola’s still have a game in hand and remain the favourites for the Premier League title, despite Arsenal keeping the pressure on.

Arsenal are making sure they’re ready to pounce if Manchester City do slip up at all in their final four games of the Premier League season.

Ferdinand, though, does not think Arsenal will win their first Premier League trophy in 19 years and will finish second behind City.

‘There’s a twist or two still left, I think, but I don’t think there will be enough for Arsenal to go and win it. As much as I banter Arsenal, what they have done this season is nothing short of amazing.

You have given this juggernaut of a team, Man City, a run for the title for the whole of the season, Remarkable stuff.”

The Manchester United legend went on to name his Arsenal player of the season which was the captain, Martin Odegaard who scored again for the Gunners at Newcastle on Sunday.

It has been an impressive campaign for the 24-year-old Norway international midfielder, who has scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in the top-flight.

“Odegaard, your Player of the Season, came up trumps again. He did a few bits in that first-half which were different level.”

Arsenal face Brighton at the Emirates Stadium up next, where as Manchester City take on Everton at Goodison Park. A ground in which the Gunners dropped points earlier on in the season.
