David O’Leary gave his opinion over Arsenal being allowed to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer and how the Ukrainian has changed the way Arsenal play this season.
Arsenal’s signees have made an amazing impact for the club this season, and with Arsenal sitting in first place with nine games remaining, the summer transfer window was a major cause for the boost in form.
However, TalkSPORT’s David O’Leary did not credit Gabriel Jesus with the change, but rather Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The Ukrainian international has provided a different dynamic to the Arsenal team this season which has seen fan-favourite Kieran Tierney drop to the bench for the majority of games this season.
Oleksandr Zinchenko dictates games from left-back by coming into the midfield and setting up the Arsenal attacks which is a big reason why opponents are finding it so hard to defend against the Gunners this season. He’s helped Arsenal go from fifth place last season to top of the league in the space of a few months.
Man City has had their fullback issues with Joao Cancelo leaving and cover being short. O’Leary senses that Manchester City must have some regret selling their left-back to Arsenal last summer.
On TalkSPORT, O’Leary had this to add about the Ukrainian:
“Zinchenko has been a revelation. I can’t understand why Man City sold him.
Is he a left-back? I mean, he is quite happy to play in midfield. He can handle the ball so well. He is such a good player. What a great addition.”
O’Leary’s comments are base-level and quite to the point. Zinchenko has been an absolute revelation this season and has taken this Arsenal side from hovering around the Europa League spots to number one in England.
Although Zinchenko isn’t the only reason Arsenal are top of the Premier League, major credit must be given to the Ukrainian nonetheless.
