Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has issued a warning to Premier League title rivals Arsenal, asserting that his team typically hits their stride at the crucial juncture of the season.

Following a commanding 4-0 victory over Brighton on Thursday, City overtook Liverpool and closed the gap to just one point behind Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. With a game in hand over the Gunners, who face a challenging encounter against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Guardiola’s side has an opportunity to reclaim the top spot by the end of the weekend.

Reflecting on Arsenal’s stumble in the previous season’s title race, Guardiola expressed confidence in his team’s ability to capitalise on any potential slip-ups by Arteta’s side.

“It’s impossible to play at the highest level all the time, impossible,” Guardiola stated during his pre-match press conference on Friday. “But the most important thing is when you are not at your highest level, be consistent and take the points and win games. And normally, normally it happens to us at the end of the season, and that is so important.”

City will look to receive a boost with the potential return of striker Erling Haaland, who was spotted training on Friday after recovering from a muscular injury sustained in the Champions League clash against Real Madrid. Guardiola remained cautious about Haaland’s fitness but acknowledged that the Norwegian forward was feeling “better.”

“I prefer to have Erling at my disposal than not have him,” Guardiola commented. “I spoke yesterday with him, and he told me he feels better. He feels better. But I don’t know.”

With the title race intensifying, Guardiola’s City is poised to make a decisive push for the top spot, ready to pounce on any opportunity to secure another Premier League crown.
