Recently, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has denied multiple claims that he is the reason for Mikel Arteta’s recent success. Mikel Arteta used to be on the sidelines with Pep, working closely as a team. Now that Arteta is managing Arsenal and Pep allowed Arsenal to sign Gabriel Jesus there have been rumours that Pep Guardiola has ruled as ‘bulls**t.’

Working three years with each other from 2016-19 can make this claim make sense, due to their close bond at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola may have given them a helping hand after seeing his ex-assistant struggling so much with Arsenal. There are rumours that Pep Guardiola wants to see his successors all win a trophy to be crowned as one of the best managers of all time with Vincent Kompany top of the league with Burnley, Xavi top of the league with Barcelona and Arteta at the top of the league with Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola recently stating:

“I remember the first game we play against Sunderland. “We play against David Moyes,” He [Arteta] said. ‘I know him well, he was at Everton, he does this and that.’ ‘After 15 minutes, half an hour, I said, ‘Yeah this is the guy to help me to anticipate.”

Pep Guardiola also recently came out in the FA Cup fourth round press conference stating Arteta’s loyalty to the club: “Always he jumps and celebrates, except one team. One team every time we score a goal I jump, come back he was sitting there. It was Arsenal. I said that guy likes Arsenal.”

Even though the impact that Pep had on Mikel is undeniable, the mind game master is a firm believer that he deserves no credit towards the current achievements of Mikel Arteta and believes it’s all Mikels doing:

“What I see is Arsenal belongs to Mikel and his people, I would like to say ‘yeah, what they do is because I teach him’. Bulls**t.”

‘I am 52 years old. I’ve been in Arsenal for one day when they allowed us to train to win the Champions League against Manchester United in 2o11. That’s the only time I’ve been in the Arsenal training centre. Sorry, United!’

‘They play with wingers higher than the midfielders like us – yeah. But all the methodology, the process, with the character, the mentality, the set pieces, a thousand million things – that belongs to them.’

Now Pep Guardiola has put the claims out like a small controlled fire, does this really show how good of a manager Mikel Arteta is and will the Arsenal man become one of the best Arsenal managers in their history?
