Arsenal are currently on an eleven game unbeaten run in the Premier League heading into the match this weekend. The last defeat for the Gunners came against Fulham at the end of 2023. Arsenal haven’t lost in the league this year and they’re looking to continue that run against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa secured a 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the reverse fixture earlier this season. There’s no doubt Mikel Arteta’s side will be looking for some revenge as they aim to win their first Premier League title in 20 years.

The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League on goal difference, with Liverpool on the same points and Manchester City just one point behind with seven games to go.

Arsenal had a full strength squad heading into the game against Bayern Munich in mid-week. However the Gunners have since picked up a big injury concern with one very important player missing training on Friday.

Gabriel wasn’t involved in training on Friday, but the club still have another day to assess his fitness before the clash against Aston Villa.

Mikel Arteta on the availability of centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes, during his press conference: “We’ve got one more day to prepare the match. We will see tomorrow if everyone is available.

“We have some (issues from Bayern) but hopefully with another day we’ll be OK.”

The Arsenal manager seemed optimistic Gabriel will be available for the game on Sunday, despite being absent from training earlier today. The Brazilian missed the recent International break as a precaution over a potential injury, but has since featured in every minute of Arsenal’s four games since.

William Saliba and Gabriel have arguably been Arsenal’s best players since the turn of the year. The Gunners have the best defensive record in the Premier League this season and the two centre-backs are a big reason why.

Recently they’ve come up against Erling Haaland, Ivan Toney and Alexander Isak and dealt with them at ease. However their next test is the most in form striker in the league in Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
