Chelsea youngster, Omari Hutchinson left Arsenal 12 months ago after rejecting multiple contract offers to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

The 19-year-old rejected multiple contract offers at Arsenal before accepting a significant higher deal with London rivals Chelsea. However finances weren’t said to be at the heart of the move, with more first-team opportunities offered in his preferred positions the key.

Omari Hutchinson has only made two appearances for Chelsea’s first-team since joining the club 12 months ago, with a combined total of 49 minutes. It seems what he was promised in terms of first-team opportunities haven’t exactly been forthcoming so far.

This season Hutchinson is applying his trade with Ipswich in the Championship, where he’s up against Arsenal loanee Charlie Patino at Swansea City. The pair spent many years together through the youth system at Arsenal.

The now Chelsea man has recently been speaking about Charlie Patino, who is one of the best young players in the Championship right now. Omari Hutchinson was asked to name a wonderkid XI from the England second division and his former Arsenal teammate made the grade.

Hutchinson says that Patino is incredibly technically gifted, and he also says that he’s still good friends with 20-year-old following their long stint together at Arsenal.

Omari Hutchinson on Charlie Patino: “Charlie Patino at Swansea, he’s technically gifted, very good on the ball, left-footer. We were with each other growing up in the academy from the age of 12 to the U23s. He understood that’s how football works, and we still communicate on FaceTime, on social media and still play PS5 with each other.”

So far this season the Arsenal loanee has made 22 appearances for Swansea City in the Championship, scoring three goals and recording four assists. The 20-year-old is hoping to breakthrough to the Arsenal first-team next season.

With Mikel Arteta currently struggling to find a consistent midfield pairing since Granit Dhaka’s departure, Charlie Patino could be the final piece of the puzzle once he returns from loan in the summer.
