Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko has revealed that he actively participates in singing ‘North London Forever’ before every home game at the Emirates Stadium.

The anthem, introduced during the Mikel Arteta era in April 2022, has become a cherished tradition for fans, players, and even celebrities associated with the club.

Under Arteta’s management, Arsenal adopted ‘The Angel‘ by Louis Dunford as the team’s official anthem, and it has since become an integral part of the pre-match ritual.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Zinchenko expressed his appreciation for the energy and special connection with the fans that the anthem brings.

“The energy from the fans, I felt it was really special. I realised how big Arsenal fans were as a club,” said Zinchenko. “Without their support, it would be so, so hard. Especially in the games when sometimes it’s not going well and they just keep pushing you – that’s why we call them our 12th player.”

Zinchenko, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City before the start of last season, has quickly become a key player in the squad. Despite being a left-back, he has showcased his versatility by inverting into midfield and is one of the on-pitch leaders for the team.

The 27-year-old, who boasts an impressive trophy haul from his time at Manchester City, reveals the importance of trust and togetherness within the team. Reflecting on the winning mentality, Zinchenko stated, “You need to trust each other, this is the main thing… You need to feel like you are a member of a family with your teammates.”

He added, “That’s what makes this team feel special, like we are all members of a family, everyone is trying to help you, they push you in difficult moments in a positive way – every single time. That makes your life much, much easier.”
