Famous Manchester City fan, Noel Gallagher believes Arsenal have what it takes to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title this season, saying the Gunners “look like champions”.
Gallagher speaking before the Manchester City/Liverpool game this weekend, believed if City dropped points in that fixture then the title would have been Arsenal’s. Luckily for his side, Manchester City didn’t just win, they smashed Liverpool
Noel Gallagher speaking to TalkSPORT last week:
“I think if City were to drop any points here and Arsenal were to win [against Leeds], I mean it is in their hands anyway, but I think if we don’t win and they win this weekend I think we can kiss the title goodbye.
We know what Liverpool team is going to turn up because they always turn up against us. Always. They will put it all on the line against us tomorrow morning and then probably be dreadful in the game after that.”
However, to his satisfaction, Manchester City beat Liverpool despite going behind in the first-half and remain eight points behind the Gunners with a game in hand.
Noel Gallagher speaking on City beating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium:
“Look, when we are at the Emirates when City played Arsenal and the three of us were in the bar and we beat them. Everybody there, every Arsenal fan were saying that that is it, City are going to go on a run and Arsenal will fall away.”
The run Noel Gallagher was talking about never really occurred as Manchester City went on to drop points against Tottenham & Nottingham Forest. Where as Arsenal are on a seven game winning run in the Premier League with a trip to Anfield up next.
Noel Gallagher speaking on Manchester City’s title rivals this season:
“What have Arsenal done? They have won the next six/seven games, scored 20 goals and we all know champions when we see them.
I am telling you now, if I was an Arsenal fan and I was watching that team, it is theirs to throw away. They just look like champions. They are scoring last-minute goals, they keep digging it out and I can’t see… if we [Manchester City] drop points now it doesn’t even matter if we beat them.
I think this is when Leicester won the league and everybody was waiting for them to blow up but they never did. The feeling I get when I see Arsenal is that they have got it.”
Arsenal aren’t just winning games, they are being ruthless in front of goal illustrated the Gunners last two home games where they have scored four goals in both games against Crystal Palace and Leeds United.
When Manchester City won at the Emirates everyone expected Arsenal to drop more points and fade away. However since then Arsenal have won every single game in the league and are in better form than ever before under Mikel Arteta. They’ve stepped up when the pressure’s on and with nine games remaining Noel Gallagher believes it’s now Arsenal’s title to lose.
Mikel Arteta, when asked about the possibility of winning the Premier League, said that his side will simply focus on the upcoming game and that’s it. Anfield awaits…
