According to today’s reports, PSG have made contact with Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta over their vacant manager position.
Mikel Arteta was appointed as Arsenal manager in December 2019 following three years under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City as his assistant coach. The current Arsenal boss took over from Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium and has undertaken dramatic change at the club in the short time he’s been in charge.
Mikel Arteta might have finished in 8th place in his first full season in charge, however since then it’s been constant progress throughout the whole club, on & off the pitch. He took Arsenal to a fifth place finish in the 2021/22 season where the Gunners missed out on a top four place in the final few weeks of the season at the hands of Tottenham.
However despite the disappointment, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal came back and took many people by surprise during the 2022/23 campaign. The Gunners produced an unlikely title charge which brought them head-to-head with Manchester City until the very end of the Premier League season. Arsenal just missed out on the league title but it illustrates the great work Mikel Arteta has done in his short tenure as Arsenal manager so far.

Mikel Arteta’s success at Arsenal is now being recognised by the biggest clubs around Europe with Paris Saint-Germain acknowledging the great work the Spaniard has done.
According to RMC Sport, PSG advisor Luis Campos has already held talks with Arteta in the hope of luring the Arsenal boss back to France. The former Barcelona and Rangers midfielder Mikel Arteta spent the 2001/02 season on loan in Paris from the Camp Nou in the early stages of his career before finding his way to Britain.
PSG are in the market for a new manager after firing Christophe Galtier, despite going one better than Arsenal and winning the league title this season. However it appears Mikel Arteta has already turned down the offer, stating that he is happy at Arsenal and isn’t anywhere near finishing his project at the Emirates Stadium. The Spaniard is contracted to the Gunners until 2025 having signed a new deal just last year.
There’s also talk of the Arsenal hierarchy preparing a new long-term deal for Mikel Arteta after the club performed way above expectations last season. The Gunners also find themselves back in the Champions League for the first time in seven years. A competition in which Mikel Arteta could find himself facing PSG next season.
PSG will have to take their manager search elsewhere with the likes of Luciano Spalletti, Zinedine Zidane, Antonio Conte and Luis Enrique all without a job at present, but it’s reported Arteta is Campos’ favourite to take over in Paris.
