In response to recent remarks made by former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has chosen to sidestep speculation about a potential move to Old Trafford.

Ferdinand suggested on his YouTube show FIVE that Arteta would readily leave Arsenal to join Manchester United if presented with the opportunity.

Ferdinand stated, “Arteta would leave Arsenal to join Man United, 100 per cent. No one is saying it’s happening but if Man United, in a wild dream, said, ‘do you know what, Erik ten Hag, thank you’ or Erik ten Hag has been poached by Bayern Munich, and he goes there, and then Man United say top of the list is Arteta.”

Arteta, however, chose not to engage directly with Ferdinand’s comments, instead emphasizing the importance of focusing on the positive aspects of punditry rather than dwelling on negative opinions.

Addressing the media ahead of Monday’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United, Arteta stated, “No, I think it’s part of our job that we are exposed to the media, to the pundits. And they have their opinions. The only thing is that we normally highlight the ones that are not very positive.”

Arteta’s contract with Arsenal is set to expire in the summer of 2025, but he has expressed openness to extending his stay, reiterating his commitment to the club amidst previous rumors linking him with a move to Barcelona.

Speaking on his dedication to Arsenal, Arteta vehemently dismissed reports suggesting otherwise: “That’s totally fake news. What you read yesterday, I don’t know where it is coming from and it is totally untrue. I am really upset about it.”

He further emphasized his allegiance to the club, stating, “I am in the right place. I am with the right people. I feel really good about it. And, as I have said many times, I am invested in a beautiful journey with this football club, with these players, these staff, our people, and there is still a lot, a lot to do.”

Arteta’s commitment to Arsenal remains resolute as he looks to guide the team to further success, underscoring his dedication to the ongoing journey with the club.

Arsenal will be in Premier League action on Monday night with a visit to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United.
