Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola have been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season award alongside a surprise contender, Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth.

Arteta and Guardiola, leading Arsenal and Manchester City respectively, have showcased impressive management throughout the season, with both teams still in contention for the title. Despite recent setbacks, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp remains a contender, having previously secured the award in 2020 and 2022. Klopp’s impending departure from Anfield adds intrigue to his nomination, following Liverpool’s Carabao Cup triumph and a spirited but ultimately faltering title challenge.

Unai Emery’s remarkable work at Aston Villa, propelling them towards a potential top-four finish for the first time since 1996, earns him a nomination. Under Emery’s guidance, Villa embarked on a club-record home winning streak, including notable victories against Arsenal and Manchester City.

Iraola’s inclusion comes as a surprise after assuming the helm at Bournemouth last summer. Despite a slow start, marked by a ten-game winless streak, Iraola orchestrated a turnaround, with the club now comfortably in the top half of the table. Victories, including a stunning triumph over Manchester United at Old Trafford, highlight Bournemouth’s resurgence under his leadership.

Interestingly, Guardiola stands out as the sole nominee yet to claim the Manager of the Month accolade this season, contrasting with Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou, who has secured the award for the opening three months but finds himself overlooked for the end-of-season honour.

The outcome of the Premier League title race could heavily influence the Manager of the Season award, with City currently holding a slight advantage pending the outcome of their remaining fixtures. The award for Player of the Season also reflects the title race, with nominees from both City and Arsenal, alongside others from Chelsea and Liverpool, vying for recognition.

Arsenal stars Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard have also been nominated for the Player of the Season while Bukayo Saka has been nominated for the Best Young Player of the Year award.
