Mikel Arteta believes in-form Arsenal forward Kai Havertz is a constant threat to any team playing against the Gunners.

The German has been in scintillating form in recent matches, and is enjoying his best streak in front of goal for the Gunners since joining from Chelsea last summer for £65 million. He has scored in his last four matches and could join the elite group of players to have scored in five consecutive matches if he finds the back of the net against Manchester City on Sunday.

Arsenal returned from the international break with a mouth-watering fixture against Premier League champions Manchester City and will be hoping to maintain their lead at the top of the table with a win at the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the game, Arteta shared his thoughts in the pre-match press conference on Sunday and believes Arsenal are well placed to deal with the threat of Manchester City.

Arteta mentioned Havertz as a threat to Manchester City’s defence. The 24-year-old has impressed with his versatility and tactical intelligence. Deployed primarily as a left-sided midfielder or a false nine, Havertz’s ability to read the game and create opportunities has made him a formidable presence on the field.

“In both roles, it is his intelligence and his capacity to read situations,” Arteta emphasised. “He is a constant threat. He can threaten you in behind, he can come to some good spaces and provoke a lot of issues positionally for the opponent. And yeah, he has become a real threat in the opponent’s box as well because now he is scoring goals.”

When asked about Havertz’s good form for club and country, Arteta said: “He’s been in great form. His overall performances have been really complete both for his country and us, and then his goalscoring threat obviously. It’s a player who has been playing different positions and fulfilling those roles in a great way. We will see how we use him for this game.”
