Arsenal asserted their dominance in the Premier League title race with a resounding 6-0 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, making history in the process with the recent run impressing Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners wasted no time in making their mark, scoring four goals within the first 20 minutes of the match. Such was their dominance that some Blades fans left the stadium just 15 minutes into the game. With a commanding 5-0 lead at halftime, Mikel Arteta’s side continued their onslaught in the second half, adding one more goal to seal a near-perfect evening.

Despite concerns over Gabriel Martinelli’s injury, the result showcased Arsenal’s exceptional form, solidifying their position as serious contenders for the title. This victory marks Arsenal as the only team in English league football history to win three successive away games by a margin of five or more goals, following similar triumphs against West Ham and Burnley.

Arteta, reflecting on the match, suggested that it might be his team’s best performance during his tenure as Arsenal manager, which spans over four years. He praised his players’ positivity, quality, and determination, highlighting their relentless pursuit of improvement.

“I’ve seen a lot of teams struggling against Sheffield United, it’s really difficult to open them up,” Arteta told talkSPORT“But from the beginning we showed that positivity, that quality as well. In short spaces we were really good and we looked a threat.”

When asked about Arsenal’s prolific goal-scoring form, Arteta attributed it to the players’ confidence, chemistry, and unwavering belief in their abilities.

“The players, the form they’re in, they’re confident, the chemistry, the determination that they are showing in every ball.

“They want more and they still believe that they can improve because we can improve in certain things and it’s important that we maintain that.”

Despite the impressive numbers, Arteta remains focused on maintaining consistency and improvement throughout the season.

Arteta added: “Without looking at the numbers it’s probably the best that we’ve been but it has to be at the end of the season and we are focused on that…”
